Toowoomba to Tenterfield Meals LD
Begin this tour in true eXpedition10 style eXploring the roads less travelled descending The Range to our first destination, Spicers Hidden Vale for smoko then on to Ma Ma Creek. Visit the local cemetery and view the monument erected by Mrs Andrews in 1920, in memory of her three sons who were killed in WW1.
Continue eXploring more back roads through Mount Mort and Rosevale, eventually arriving in Aratula for a leg stretch.
From Aratula our journey will continue up to The Head just near the very start of the mighty Condamine River. Follow the twists and turns of the Condamine River through the Condamine Gorge crossing the river many times before arriving in Killarney. Killarney is located on land taken up by the Lesley Brothers for, Canning Downs, one of the first pastoral leases on the darling Downs. It is also our lunch break today.
From Killarney our route is mostly along the Mount Lindsay Road. Along the way, keep an eye open for Thunderbolt’s Lookout and WWII Tank Traps. We will also detour in to Boonoo Boonoo Falls before arriving in Tenterfield for the night.

Tenterfield to Tyalgum Meals D
This morning, following breakfast, depart Tenterfield and begin descending the ranges following the Billirimba Road which leads us to the Timbarra River valley. The road through the valley is named the Rocky River Road for reasons which will become obvious throughout the journey. Beside the river you may spot many popular camping areas.
Eventually we will arrive at the Bruxner Highway and then Tabulam for a cuppa.
Back on the road we will continue on the Bruxner for a bit then detour to a little locality name Dryaaba and Stratheden and Kyogle. Lunch break today and some shopping time will be taken at Nimbin before continuing to Tyalgum near the base of Mount Warning for a two night stay.

Day 3 Saturday, 25 October 2025
Tyalgum and Beach Day Meals L
Today, is Tyalgum market day. The Tyalgum Village Market is a monthly handmade artisan and craft market, featuring stalls from a wide range of local makers. Enjoy a relaxed morning amidst handmade wares and live music with a wonderful selection of stalls in a unique and delightful country setting.
Also, make time to look through Flutterbies Cottage located in the former the lovingly restored Bakery and Butchers. Filled with the old world charm delight in french linen, flowers and vintage crockery in the elegant Tea Room.
Lunch today will be at one of the many spectacular beach locations to be found in the region. There will also be time, should you choose, to wander along the beach and maybe even dip your toes in the Pacific Ocean.
A short drive will see us arrive at Tropical Fruit World and we’ve heard they serve some very interesting and delicious flavoured ice cream.
This afternoon we are booked in to enjoy tapas and entertainment at Flutterbies Cottage.

Day 4 Sunday, 26 October 2025
Tyalgum to Toowoomba Meals BL
This morning, take a short drive to Murwillumbah where we have arranged a visit to the Tweed Regional Gallery, housed in a large, modern, architecturally award-winning building with stunning views to Mount Warning. Housed within, the Margaret Olley Art Centre celebrates the career, life and legacy of Margaret Olley, Australia’s most celebrated painter of still life and interiors.
From Murwillumbah, travel north through the Numinbah Valley, crossing the Queensland Border then detour into Natural Bridge where an easy one kilometre walk on a sealed track takes you down to an arched cave complete with a spectacular waterfall cascading through the ceiling.
Continue north to Mount Tamborine and our lunch break for today.
This afternoon sit back and relax on the drive back to Toowoomba. We should arrive home around 5:30pm. Thank you for eXploring with eXpedition10.
